Use X Item keybinds

Please add keybinds to use an item in a specific item slot.

Or make separate item slots with dedicated keybinds

I just think it would be nice to be able to use my pickaxe while running around with my sword, without having to switch back and forth between the two. Instead of switching from sword to pickaxe, swinging the pickaxe, then switching back to sword, just press 1 button to swing the pickaxe while the sword is out. 1 button press instead of 3.

This could be useful for bombs, slingshot, and food during combat. It could also be useful for breaking items at the farm with a pickaxe and quickly replacing them. It would make gameplay feel more fluid overall.

If you wanted to make this feature more accessible to players using controllers, you could add a keybind chord, like press and hold left bumper then press A,B,X, or Y to use item slot 1,2,3, or 4 respectively.

Alternatively you could just add an "off hand" item slot.

I've figured out a way to do this (somewhat) using Steam Input configuration. I have this bound to my top left rear button (L4) on my Steam Deck.

Left Trigger (start press)
X Button (fire start delay 10ms)
Right Shift Key (release press)
R Key (release press)
Delete Key (release press)
Right Trigger (release press)

So what this does is when you press the button down, switch your item slot 1 over to the left, wait 10 milliseconds, use your active item. Then when you release the button it cancels the animation and switches back to your previous item slot.

You have to set the fire start delay to 10ms because you can't swing your sword less than 10 ms after switching item slots. You have to animation cancel because you can't switch item slots while you're in an animation.

So you can be mining with your pickaxe in slot 2, then press this button to swing your sword from slot 1 and instantly go back to mining with slot 2

Edit:
Instead of using left trigger and right trigger, to cycle left and right on your action bar, you can also use keyboard Key 1 and keyboard Key 2 to swap back and forth to those item slots respectively. That way if you always keep your sword on slot 1 you can always quickly swing your sword, even if you're at some other item slot trying to eat food or something.
