Heartbreaking news. A total of 12 farm animals went permanently missing after I moved the coop and barn. (4 chickens, 4 ducks, 4 cows) It happened on year 1, Fall. (Coop has not been upgraded to premium coop yet). We were using the wilderness farm. I was the CO-OP farmer and my husband was the host. We never had an issue moving stuff before as the animals have a good homing skills but when I got back from Robin's to care for the animals, they vanished on my end. We thought it was just an internet issue as my husband can still see the animals, and interact with them, while I only see him milk the air as we're standing in the same barn. He gave me the produce to test if there are any latency but I was able to drink it with no issue. So we thought it wasn't an internet issue, I restarted my device anyway, and when I rejoined, the animals are still missing and they also vanished from the animals list.
My husband tried to reset the day but when he came back, the animals are also gone on his end as if they never existed. I also tried to upgrade the coop to deluxe coop to try if it would update the farm and maybe the chickens will pop out the next day. Unfortunately, nothing.
At this moment, I just accepted that the animals are gone, I went to buy new ones but after purchasing the 4th chicken and last cow, I can't add anymore as the "Deluxe coop & Barn is full". The game still thinks that the animals are there, and the coop is using the hay everyday feeding the ghost animals. No produce, no animals, just ghost animals chilling. (BTW, I was able to buy a goat with just a regular barn which was a super weird bug but it went away the next day. Our cat also decided to change color from tuxedo to orange and change his name to Dudley when we rejoined.)
We can still home animals for the remaining available slots but they are vanishing the next day which costs us too much. We decided to leave the old barn and coop empty, we purchased new ones and the new animals didn't go missing even when I tried doing the same thing I did with the old barn & coop. But we always leave the barn and deluxe coop open so if they ever came back, they're still welcome and would be cared for.

Barn 3/4 cows ---> vanished ---> was able to buy goat with regular barn ---> vanished the next day

I checked many forums and reddit posts, I saw one saying to wait it out because theirs came back after 4 days. We're now on year 3, fall. They haven't returned yet. I can't also remove the old barns and coops as I have to relocate the animals before I could demolish. I don't know how to relocate them if their name is not even showing. I also thought that the hay may have caused the relocation notification so I bombed off all of the hay in the hay bed then tried to demolish. Still no luck.
P.S, we have also tried troubleshooting, manually checking save code, still no luck and I don't know if it helps.
I hope this will be fixed soon. I named one of the ghost cows Sheyla.. Oh my gawd... my Sheyla..
