...the new 'trees sometimes lose leaves in autumn' feature is something you can fiddle with in the code in a text editor? I have maple trees all over specifically for the purple/red autumn leaves.
edit to add: Apparently the random bare trees are the new wild tree sprite, which is bare in autumn, but I didn't plant them, they were definitely all maples. Also some oaks I planted by the railroad have randomly also changed, and most of my heavy tappers on them have stopped working. I have been through the 'green rain' summer event but I'm not sure if it's the same trees that were temporarily transformed, weird. Reported as a bug.
