the elusive living hat hunt

my most biggest hyperfixation yet in this game has always been the living hat.
yep, just a hat. a hat that is notorious for being the most if not rarest item to be obtained in game! two words.

Green. Rain.

I was playing late last night (one of those nights where you repeat to yourself just one more night then it's like 2 am and your eyes hurt lol) and decided to give a go at finding it as it seemed like the most possible way without driving myself crazy with the other techniques. it's quite funny that I actually decided I wasn't going to restart the day if I didn't get the hat and wait until next year. for me, restarting the day again and again is very tedious and burns me out of playing and have to be in the mood to grind.

there seems to be not many tips on how to get the hat, so I will share mine! the green rain event is your best chance, through and through, at least the less time consuming option. I got lucky and only restarted two times but it is RNG. I bought megabombs and although luck buffs/luck does not increase your chance at the living hat I did use a food for foraging buff while clearing the valley. not sure if that helped or not but I typically do eat a food item with foraging while getting lots of wood. I started in the mountains after purchasing my bombs, and worked my way through town and then to Cindersap and going through the entire valley is also your best chance.

as the clock struck midnight and I was finishing the very last bit of Cindersap forest I take a look at my inventory and there she was! the way my jaw DROPPED. no idea when or how- but I wanted to tell everyone but nobody will understand my excitement the way you guys do. I never wanted a hat so badly and I never thought I would see the day that I obtained it myself which means it is possible for everyone!!

also, as I was researching last night about the living hat, people have been talking about work boots being a item only through mine remix. I always remix my bundles and rewards and I do have them. it's so awesome to keep finding things that I never knew about SDV. :junicheer:
work boots, LIVING HAT and I was gifted the tea set in Y2 from Shane. might I say this is the perfect, perfection farm.. and I haven't gotten perfection yet lol.

goodluck to everyone and your day will come! I hope my tips help some out there who also have an itch for that damn hat! happy farming, friends.:duck::heart::stardrop:

Congratulations on your newly installed sweatwicker! I have yet to see anyone wear it with various green hair options but that will happen the day I finally find one!

Despite my best efforts* the entirety of Farmer Bobbi's haberdashery section remains stone dead with nary a photosynthesizing leaf to be seen. And that's after 5 years of Green Rain events. One day Bobbi will feel the tentacly, warm, and totally-not-creepy-at-all embrace of searching roots taking hold of her scalp never to let go until she shaves it off, hair and all. Until that day, the pursuit of noggin foliage continues.

* I never thought to restart the day until the Living Hat shows up. My best efforts generally don't extend to clever, and in retrospect, sensibly obvious strategies.

Yay that's really awesome. I myself just got my first in many thousands of hours on my mobile farm a while back and I still rock it to this day, it's quite the look.

I wasn't specifically farming for it but if you are you were on basically the right track. Bar farming for it by sleeping a couple years on the ginger island farm (for weeds to become super dense there), resetting the green rain event is pretty much the best way to go about getting one, definitely a lucky catch!
