If you're into adding mods, there is a mod that allows you to exchange your unused Qi Coins back to regular coins: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1930 thus allowing you to spend your "hard earned" coins on whatever you want like the really expensive gold clock or return scepter.

The hilarious thing is that since buying sellable items was heavily nerfed in 1.6, it isn't even applicable unless you have an older update of the game. Letting it deliberately act as spam bait is just the icing on the top.
