Tea sapling sell price

I've been told many times that tea leave saplings sell for 500 gold per sapling, but I tried it out just today, and it said 250 gold.

Does anyone know why??

It was reduced in the new 1.6 update. Probably because people have been exploiting it lol 250g is still a ton though.

Thank you for the info! I play on console so I'm new to 1.6

They rebalanced a few prices and other things like changing the materials to craft a few items so the gameplay makes a little more sense. Tea Saplings used to sell for a very hefty premium compared to the ingredients to craft them and that's been reduced to a more sane level.

Another thing that people have found out at exactly the wrong time is changes to the Life Elixir and Energy Tonic. Beforehand, both restored Health and Energy but in v1.6, both behave as they are named:

Life Elixir restores Health to 100% with no effect on Energy
Energy Tonic restores 500 Energy with no effect on Health

As for whether you should be using them: Many still do recommend selling them but my personal advice is that it's no longer a strategy worth bothering with, before their nerf it was actually decently balanced, they made a good amount of cash but nothing insane and it did box you into a very specific gameplay loop that took time later to break out of (and build up skills/progress elsewhere).
Now the sell price doesn't really make it at all practical, and the limits it imposes on your playing isn't really worth the cost, you're better off using other methods for making cash like fishing which was buffed a fair bit in 1.6, even in the early game
