Hi there,
I would like to suggest an improvement for Stardew Valley on the console version (Xbox). Currently, save files are stored in an encrypted format that prevents direct access — unlike on PC or mobile, where players can access the save folder, create backups, or transfer their progress.
My suggestion is for the developers, together with Microsoft/Xbox, to allow each player secure access only to their own save files — for example, through an exportable folder or a manual backup option, without compromising system integrity or security.
Benefits of this change:
• Allows players to back up their progress and avoid data loss in case of hardware issues or console replacement.
• Makes it easier to migrate between platforms if the player also owns the game on PC or mobile.
• Offers more freedom to players without affecting DRM or overall system security.
I believe this would make the game more fair and accessible, and it’s likely a feature many players would appreciate.
If this is technically impossible or not planned, I kindly ask for an official explanation about the reasons. Even if the answer is “no,” it would be very valuable to understand why this functionality can’t exist on Xbox.
Thank you for your attention and for such a wonderful game!
PS: (more personal comment) I'm a huge fan of the game, and it really hurts that I can’t use my console worlds on mobile or PC. I’ve researched this many times and found many people in the same situation, but never an official request asking for this feature to be added.
