My very first time in the Mutant Bug Lair on my very first save (to beat the involved quest):

I ran the whole way to the goal without killing a single thing, just dodging and running and dodging some more, then grab what I was looking for and run and dodge and run and dodge the whole way back. I was still rocking the Forest Sword and had no idea WTF I was doing, but I survived!

Got to SC floor 100 one second before fainting. Got the cutscene, took one step and collapsed.

Walked into skull cavern with new Galaxy Sword. Serpent starts flying at me. I commit nope and get the heck out of there. True story.

@Quillmagic your and my story are exactly the same. I may get brave again someday to try again but I'm certainly in no rush. I like it safe back on my farm.

There's lots of good stuff in the Skull Cavern. I highly recommend it. (I extra highly recommend you get yourself down to level 100.)
