We cannot get more than one external controller working on the Steam Deck. I have tried with many different configurations.
One pattern I've noticed is only the highest number controller in order works. So if I reorder the controllers I can make each controller work one at a time (including the steam deck built in controller) by putting it at the bottom of the list of controllers. This whole time I can use all controllers to interact with the Steam menu.
I've tried with Steam Input off as well, but that seems to mess up the controllers so they don't even work in the Steam menu until after a restart.
Changing one of the controllers to Keyboard layout WASD seems to allow it to work, but these both control the first player.
Would be great if this was solved as we would love to play some local coop :)
