Stardew Valley: Festival Edition

Stardew Valley: Festival Edition... Ive had this idea rattling around in my head for a while and I finally wrote it out. I wanted to see what other people think and who else thought of something like this? I know 1.5 is coming soonish but maybe something like this for SDV 2?

So here's my idea to make the years tick by in Stardew Valley.

First time you leave your farm via the north exit, you meet Mayor Lewis. In the cut scene, Lewis shows you a plot of land that belongs to Pelican town, this is located on your left from the north exit. He tells you that the place needs fixing up and shows you a building and a tiled area. He explains that once fixed up you can open a hot food and drinks stall (building) and hold small festivals (broken tiled area). Rent is free during the first year on your farm while you are fixing it up.

The Governor.

Holding festivals and opening your food stall adds hearts to the Governor, once the hearts start to raise the town becomes more popular and more residents move in. This would also include gaining hearts for, Community Center, Community Upgrade (Pam's trailer), Luau, Trash Bear and Movie Theater.

How the Festivals work.

Once you have cleared the land of debris, fixed the paved area and Robin has fixed your building, you can then plan your first festival. There is a tome in the Mayors house where you can add your festival date into the diary and state that it will be a "Simple Festival" (like a farmers market). There will be a guide to how this works, what sort of items to have on display or for sale that appeals to most customers.

You will have a few produce stalls and some displays and these will be 'judged' by the governor when he visits (his total heart display will be shown on the Tome of Festivals Diary and each festival will show its rating received). Everything on the stalls and displays will be sold (simple festivals will have a max number like 50 of each item) at something like twice the usual sell rate.

The Cafe/food stand will be simple in its function and can be upgraded. You have a few slots to fill, a mix of drinks, meals and desserts is a good idea to keep the people happy (there is no theme here just food & drink).

The Festival day.

You can choose any date in any given month and only 1 per season, as long as it doesnt clash on another festival day. The following day after you register your festival (a morning cut scene) you see workmen setting up the stalls and displays on your fixed tiled area.

There will be a choice to involve an NPC or two (depending on the festival type) that will help with entertainment, for instance in a simple festival Emily will dress up as a clown and give balloons out or in an upgraded festival Clint will make a merry-go-round.

When the day happens, visitors will arrive by bus and train throughout the day, they will make a beeline for the festival and stay around 2 hours then maybe they will visit pelican town or go home. If you have done well you will see the love heart emoji above their heads, if you happen to fill your festival with rotten plants your visitors will have angry emojis and leave.

Upgraded Festivals - Themes

Once you have enough hearts with the governor, you can do more specialsed festivals like music and arts, cheese and wine, Fish and Ocean artifacts ect.

Looking at the Music for instance, Sam and his band can perform (however there are other musical people in Pelican!) and Leah and robin can show case their work, your stalls and displays will be artifacts/minerals and flowers or perhaps baking (cakes and muffins) or clothing. Most NPCs can help out in some way in relation to your festival theme and may require resources, like Clint to make a small park ride.

In Summary

The idea for Festival Edition is twofold. First, to add more content via holding events, simple ones at first then bigger, which gives reason for hunting artifacts and fish, getting a nice stock of iridium quality items, create then sell clothing etc. Second, by expanding pelican town, more NPCs move in and the governor ends up buying a house (max hearts). I hope I have made sense! I'm just glad to have got this 'out there' at last.
