Stardew Valley Expanded

Hello! I have tried going through multiple forum posts and even the official SDV Expanded Guide but I can't seem to figure out how to mod. This is my first time modding a game at all and I am trying to mod the Steam version of Stardew. I have also tried to post the SMAPI log but my computer also does not register that folder. Struggling and frustrated here, any advice is welcome.

just discovered what I was doing wrong, I was launching Stardew through the steam app and not through the StardewModdingAPI folder :) hope this helps anybody that is having a similar issue
