Sprite Player Pawns

I have an idea to replace the player pawns in the game with standees using sprites from the video game. My plan it to get sprites of the default male and female player, change the color of the clothes to each of the four colors (red, blue, yellow, and green) used for the pawns that come with the game, print them out on shrink plastic, shrink them down which thickens them, and glue them to a base. Having them with the corresponding tool to make the profession for each color would be even better but I will settle for a default standing sprite.

I'm having trouble finding sprites I can use. I'd like to make a male and female for each color. Anyone know where I can find sprites or some kind of sprite maker online?

Would be nice. The colour tokens are pretty dull compared to having an actual farmer character. Could also print 12 partner standees to replace the purple token but that might be overkill and waste a lot of space.

For sprites typing in stardew valley player sprite on an online image search gets some simple reference material and the odd video guide. It looks like every character sprite is 16 x 32 pixels so if you have any image editing access at all and wanted to construct sprites yourself, use those measurements. You could use image search results as reference or screenshot the game itself to copy from?

If you're struggling to find any reference somehow I'll list some links to random images from the search, mostly from other people's projects, you could look at.

I find MS Paint very simple to use and can do the job of sprite making easy enough. For transparency I'd have to switch to GIMP, it's free and can do more complex things but it's a bit more tricky to use and get used to. I'd save the images in PNG format (or BMP is fine if when you don't need transparency) avoid JPG because it will blend all your pixels into a mess.

For an online sprite maker I just searched pixel art maker and this was top result, maybe it will suit your needs. I haven't screened or tested it, if it doesn't suit try the same search. https://www.pixilart.com/draw

I made this on the website and downloaded it's not perfect just a quick job but maybe you can use it. It looks blurry but download from here it will look clean. To finish it I'd at least hone some of the colours like the head and the shoes. Probably change the blue for different characters. One of the references above has the dungarees converted to a dress which I think would be appropriate too for some. Or maybe you will make something with more detail than pixels, you could look at avatar makers online. Even you could search for more generic farmer sprites to use as don't have to be limited to the game sprite detail.
