Switch Spring Day 2 meadowlands- animals no longer owned

Y1 Spring Day 2

Chickens Viola and Piccolo were on farm on day 1, loved then let out of coop to eat. Didn't close coop at night. Start of Day 2, we no longer own chickens. They've disappeared from the farm and from our menu.

Update:
Started a new save file, same load in, only change was not letting the chickens out of coop. Day 2- still own the chickens

The same thing happened to me in single player. Updated the game, started a new file on Meadowlands, had 2 baby chicks, let them outside, forgot to close coop that night and the next morning they were completely gone. Even the menu tab for them was gone. Poor babies :(
Started a new file, let babies out and then made sure to close the coop that night and everything was fine the next day. I know I've forgotten to close the coop a few times after that first day and my chickens are still there so perhaps it's either something funny with the first 2 days or once the chicks are grown up the game doesn't care if the coop is left open.
