If you haven't unlocked Ginger Island, please ignore the thread.

For me, crafting is somehow tough as I don't have a straightforward list to show which one is finished and which one is not.
Additionally, I have to check if I haven't unlocked some items because the items on my list may miss something.
The other reason is that some crafting items are not useful for me.
Even though I craft that, I need to dispose it right away.
For example, Slime Incubator.

I don't feel like hatching any slimes in my farmhouse.
I feel a little bit nauseous about sticky soggy creatures.

Some guys would say walnuts are not easy to dig out perfectly, but there exists an alternative approach to skip the process.
You know what I am talking about if you have met the parrot nearby Volcano Dungeon.

Personally for myself perfection is much more about the journey rather than the destination, but that only applies for files I'm just playing passively in that regard.

Most runs I do are centered around a single thing, mechanic, or area where I can push the game and that's why I basically always do the joja route to allow myself to actually focus on the thing I want to mess around with rather than the same old cc stuff every single time, and that applies the same for any run that I'd want to do stuff on past perfection (though scaled up in that money department)

I even have a couple runs in the making right now that revolve around the use of waivers so I think they're neutral as a feature for myself

I don't mind it, I feel like I could go for it in a Joja route run for a sense of thematic continuation. Actually I have done a Joja run, ages ago. I think I still have the save file, I got the Joja Cola machine.

I find it very difficult to have more than one file going at a time though, and I'm happily into extreme end-game ridiculousness, so probably won't be trying it any time soon. :toothy:

If I had time and really wanted to do it then i would, but if it was just a challenge then no. I'm not a fan of crafting and cooking so that wouldn't be fun.
I have been playing this file over 200 hours.
I still feel suffering from the process of crafting each items.

Half of items on the list is useless to me.
I cooked every cuisine as I enjoyed trying if I can get special buff to improve my experience of the game.
Some food are beneficial for your combat experience, some food can make your fishing easier.

Whereas, the crafting items are independent.
I can hardly feel the connections between two crafting items and some items are only used once and then abandoned finally.

If perfection is just a badge or a Steam achievement, I will definately give it up right away.

I bought over 100+ games in PlayStation Store but never achieved Platinum Trophy for any game. The closest one was Ghost of Trushima, but there was a multiple player trophy I gave up finally because I didn't like playing storyline-driven game online. I only enjoyed offline part.

In some game, you need to achieve something, otherwise you come to bad ending. The majority of players don't feel like going to bad ending or stuck at the gate of good ending.

Anyway, I can watch the video of good ending in social media for any games, but as a stubborn guy, I prefer to seeing that in person regardless of difficulty.

For some guys, it means nothing, but experiencing good/perfect ending means a lot to me.

I don't mind buying that last little bit though I ended up not needing it the one time I chose to try for perfection. And having done it once, I'll probably not do it again as it doesn't really offer anything other than to demonstrate to yourself that any single Crafted or Cooked item doesn't really take too much effort, just a bit of planning.

You mentioned not having a straightforward list for Crafting but someone (I think FilthyGorilla) showed me that there's some help for this. You can turn on Show Advanced Crafting Information in your game settings here:

Adv craft1.JPG

And then you'll see more info about Crafting any particular item, including if you've crafted it yet in your Crafting tab here:

It's super helpful!

Really helpful!
Now I have a tinge of motivation to achieve perfection.

Now my progress is 95%

I'm probably going to pick the last percents from Fizz, as slimy as he is. "Craft everything" is such a nuisance, it is hard to keep count, even with that advanced setting and as someone else said, there are a lot of things you just don't need for anything. I never keep slimes, for example. Cooking everything is fun in a way.

I wish "Show Advanced Crafting Information" was the default. It doesn't help if you don't know the recipe, but not everyone books it to the settings in a brand new game to monkey with the defaults, so a lot of players don't realize it is an option.

I get a kick out of crafting and cooking. I have chests for holding all the stuff I make that I know I'll never use. But I'll probably purchase the last few golden walnuts. I know I can do everything else, but some of the mini games make me really annoyed, and I insist on playing games in ways that allow me to relax.

I don't know how much has changed in 1.6 yet, but I didn't get Perfection back in 1.5. Don't have an issue with crafting, tho. It's just one item, and it's easy to see what you lack ingame with advanced crafting, as you discussed above. Cooking is worse because often you need ingredients from different seasons, and I always lack something.

One problem I recall having was with the blasted music room, where I had to remember a fairly long sequence. It was completely impossible for me, and I felt terribly stupid. It was like my brain couldn't compute it at all, and I'd always forget something while trying to recall the next move. One mistake, and you need to start over... 😢 I had to record the pc screen with my phone, and then replay it on slowest settings to stand a chance. And it was still hard. Very strange really, but like I said, it was like my brain couldn't do it at all, which felt awful 😢

So I guess I may have to "cheat" to get that done again. But I don't want to pay for stuff, it isn't why I play games. More fun and rewarding to pull it off yourself, whatever the challenge may be, in whatever game.

I'm much the same, I don't care for achievements that much, moreso just for my own enjoyment within a game, whether that be through navigating through the game without those explicit goals as more than a guideline or through making my own goals to follow.

One can probably see this by the way I most of my games, it's usually just large projects with the more particular or out of the way achievements almost entirely ignored, I make my own fun and I enjoy it that way.

I feel so sorry to hear that.
I don't think you should think you are stupid.
On the contrary, you really enjoyed playing game other than being played be game.
Not achieving perfection isn't your fault.
We still need to assess whether the goal of perfection is reasonable and worth it or not.
After going through 1.6 patch upgrade, purchasing the progress is an optimal option for anyone who doesn't spend time on fishing crafting or cooking list.
You can check the vote I set up, more than 70% users don't mind doing it.

For those playing on PC, you can use https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-checkup/ to see exactly what you still need to do to reach perfection and complete other aspects of the game.
Thanks for sharing the tool.
Checking the progress of each crafting item is literally suffering for some users.

Fortunately, I play that on Steam.
I don't have a report how many players or proportion achieved perfection on console as they don't have access to install external software on console.

hmmm. Advanced crafting reminder is actually not enough because some recipes are spread in different activities like even in some festive activities. That was annoying for me. Once I missed a critical festival, I have no choice but to wait for the same festival next year and I will probably forget that again unless I wrote it down!

I went through a trauma of playing a game when I was in middle school.
The name of this game is Valkyrie Profile.
It is a old-fashioned JRPG released in early 90s.

There are 3 endings you can achieve.
If you have never heard the game, you can wiki or Google it then you will know how crazy the mechanism this game has!

I was really frustrated because I didn't check any instructions or tips before starting the game.

Finally I didn't achieve perfect ending.
I felt all my effort was meaningless.

I had no choice but re-starting a new save file.

After that, I learned collecting as much information I can before purchasing a game as I don't feel like wasting my money and time especially time.

You can save money for buying another game next time but time is the most precious thing for everyone and you can never take it back.
