Switch Split Screen crashing (no bombs!!) 1.6.9.36

Hello! My partner and I just started playing split screen on the switch (Switch system version 14.1.1, SDV 1.6.9.36 in English) using Switch Pro controllers and we are experiencing frequent crashes.

It seems to be crashing every 3-4 days in the middle of the day. Neither of us have used any bombs, and we seem to be doing random things each day. The last one we were both in the mines, but it was our first foray down there this save and it's crashed while fishing or just walking around. We are currently on the day after the Egg Festival and very frustrated as it's crashed 3-4 times now in the middle/end of the day.

When looking in the error log - error code: 2203-0017 "A communication error has occurred. You cannot perform local communication and other forms of wireless communication at the same time"

We have played on the switch together before 1.6 - probably a year or so ago now - but never encountered this issue. We updated the game right before playing (the switch restarted for this)

We are also having crash issues without bombs. It crashes even if it's only day 1 of playing. The big culprit seems to be the island mines. Sometimes, when we go into the volcano, the bridge isn't there, and when the second player enters, it crashes. If the bridge is there, if the second player goes to the next level first, the first player enters a different layout entirely, and ultimately, it crashes. We've also had all of player 2's chests disappear (but come back after exiting and re-loading). Frustrating to say the least. This was an old game that we started playing again after the update. Is yours a new game or an old?
