I thought that was 50,000 but actually it costs 500,000 !

I am just a nearsighted middle-aged man.

Well, fluffy pets are more cost-effective.
I thought amphibians are cheaper than fluffy guys technically.
But... there is no way taking back my money.

I haven't bought my first golden clock. You can see my balance in the top-right corner.

Tortoises are some of the more expensive pets you can purchase IRL, and if you are doing things right, you'll also spend a pretty penny on everything they need to thrive in your home. Keep in mind that you also paid the premium to buy the rare color breed.

I always figured the purple was because he's an iridium tortoise. There's other iridium creatures so it wouldn't be a stretch, and iridium is fancy, pricy purple stuff... it's my headcanon for my own purple guy anyway. (Sir Terrance, he needed a fancy name.)

You are right.
Iridium quality in this game means perfect or highest quality/level.
The only concern is that pets are not items or tools, so the Iridium Quality for an animal sounds a little bit weird.

Dogs are my favorite here and irl. Cats are cool too though. I just never got into the turtles. They are very pretty colors but I already have so many dogs and cats (one of each) blocking my doors and farm so I have to give up something lol!

I think there are blue ones if I remember correctly so maybe purple is a stretch but who knows. Wiki knows
