Should be able to buy additional valley themed items at the fair

Like the title says, I think it'd be pretty cool to get some items from Robin or Clint, maybe even Marnie. The fair is fun but also kind of lacking and doesn't seem its luring in tourists with just strength games or fishing. Nothing about it is unique to the valley.

From Clint you could get weapons and/or other gear from him as a special one off. He could sell items you might find in the mines with a buff, or entirely new items. Would love if there was a small chance at each fair to get a rare sword; no where near strong as the galaxy items but a cool new item, maybe having some traditional buffs from rpg like poison or fire, though a standard weapon would still be awesome.

At the wood working stand maybe being able to buy new decor or new recipes. Also could be cool to do a mini game to make an item with her, like dragging the right item to the right spot, clicking areas that need attention. May also have a mini game distinguishing the differences in items: object a has a dent or stain that you can clean or click to hammer out; you then get to keep the item. The free item can be something that can be easily made while the crafting one you have to buy to make it with her.

For Marnie its a bit of a stretch and can be ignored. Since it seems like its a petting area, we get to go in a pin with them and interact with the animals (feeding, petting by clicking circles in the right order or in a time limit) and when you leave there's an option to bid for an animal that you've already established a relationship (one star) against another npc. The cost would go up but the trade is you already have a heart or two with the animal and some cute interactions.

At first when I saw the title I was like " but we can trade/ buy stuff from the fair already " then i start to read your description of it then i realized... this is fun I like it ! The fair get boring after year 3, I like the fortune teller lady but that is it. Same dialogs, same game it get so boring that i dont feel like go to the fair or the other festival anymore.

Getting random weapons from Clint is kinda fun, like... what will Clint sell this year I must see !

Wood working stand contest sound rad ! Maybe we win exclusive decor items for the house ?

For Marnie, contest or no, I would love to pet the cows >:)

I feel the same, pre-update I played maybe....10 full games? They lose their fun real fast and only going for it is the rarecrow and stardrop. There's a lot of potential in it, I think most events do. But there really isn't any soul in the valley fair. Nothing about it is distinctly Stardew Valley.
Also I just want to play with a chicken or cow. They're both my dream pets.

On a side note, I would love it if the game accurately represented the feeling that a tourist economy had in comparison.

I don't know how you'd do that accurately, but a tourist economy is a real thing for a vast many parts of the world, specifically the pacific islands all the way up to alaska, but of course it doesn't stop there. Perhaps, if you go the joja route, as time goes on your crop outputs could slowly slowly decrease in value. (If you need a reference just look up Dole pineapples (which used to be based in Hawaii) and the Phillipines, i believe. I might be wrong.)

That's actually a cool idea. I did read somewhere or its a mod that joja seeds have a higher percentage of wilting and lower quality despite fertilizers. Would be hard I guess to counter community center fair, that or it stays the same, maybe less tourists?

I mean, when it comes down to it, would you rather buy your seeds from a K-Mart, or from a dedicated nursery that is made for selling plants, and not groceries?

If I'm understanding you clearly, you're not for the idea? Sorry not quite clear on what you said. I would like to buy from a nursery, but the point of Pierre's shop is that he's the local shop that sells all sorts of needs, he wouldn't have much to do without it. Besides, seeds are also sold at small shops in towns. Easier to go to local grocery store than out of town or build a shop for plants in a farming community.
