seen an animal on my way home

its twelve and i took the minecart on my way home from the mines straight to the bus stop and seen an animal (my first thought was a raccoon tho not sure) it quickly run straight to my farm entrance and i never seen it again. im on winter year one. can't find any related answer to it on google. is that one of the secrets?

There are a few animals that can be seen fleeing the area when the Farmer enters the screen, but what you are describing looks like the anteater-like creature that was added in 1.6.

The anteater-like creature is an opossum, If I'm not mistaken. It's a marsupial specific to the American continent, so not everyone might be familiar with it.
