Secret Notes

I can't seem to figure out Secret Notes. Does the note icon disappear permanently or do they end up in your storage bins? Where do the contents actually appear? Any help appreciated.

Once you have read it, the note itself disappears.

You can read them again in the collections tab in the menu.

Once found, the Secret Note is available for reading. The trick is to select it in the top row of inventory and right-click. When that happens, the note will join your private collection, as well as triggering the appearance of a secret tab in the player menu. "If we are wrong, we will continue to look for the right answer." ◔̯◔

To read it again, you can visit the collections tab in the menu

Being able to view notes with maps again was especially helpful as a new player. Then the locations (and actions to take there) become easier with subsequent saves.
