"sea monster" thing(is it rare?)

It popped out of the blue when I was fishing for squids on the 2nd day Squidfest

That is a very rare secret! There is a very low chance for that creature to show up in that area, and I mean very low chance.

It used to be but I think it became significantly less rare after 1.5 was released. I've seen it a lot more since then.

Yes, pretty rare, never personally seen it with 1K hours!

I've never seen it either but I rarely make out as far as the ocean when Fishing as the river is close and buzzy warm and shady with abundant sleepy spots beneath trees. We probably can't plant any trees at the beach so I guess I'll never see the sea monster other than in peoples' cool screencaps.

It's actually not as rare as people thing, as it's a per frame chance to trigger. It's just that many don't spend that much time at the beach, and sometimes it can spawn the whole map away from you and you'll never catch a glimpse

If someone reading this does want to see it, zoom out as far as possible and stand about outside of the fish shop. Spend some time fishing in the ocean or you'll bore yourself and keep and eye out while you cast.

Only once, across a total of ~700+ hours on 4 different saves, have i ever seen that thing. I initially thought we could interact with it and got sad, for missing the opportunity, until i saw others posting about, that the only thing you can do, is watch it appear and disappear.

Another rare thing, is post the strange capsule breaking, you can see a shadow running somewhere. Only once i saw that happen.

I only saw it once with all 5 saved files of total 800++ hours! and it happened when I was playing multi and turns out, only me who can see it and my co-op partner can't, even tho we literally stand next to each other fishing at the pier.
