Save file on new switch card

Hello,
my spouse gifted me Stardew Valley for the Switch last year. Because of the delay of the update I didn't play it or even looked at it on the Switch till now (already played through multiple times on the PC).
Today I opened the original shrink-wrapped Switch version and inserted the card into my Switch to install any updates (there were none). Then I created a new save, played for a day, saved and went to the title screen. I clicked on "Load" and there I see 2 save games??? One was called "Laura" and one was mine. What is Laura? It was on day 2 on spring, someone already had planted a few crops, a chest, etc. Has anyone experienced this? The game was originally shrink-wrapped.

Thanks for reading and any answers :)

Are you sure that the game was bought new? It could have been shrink wrapped by the reseller. I'd ask your spouse where they got it from, to clear up any confusion.

Switch cartridges (what u insert into the switch) are read only, so they can't store save files or other related game data. This can't be an issue with the cartridge but rather the save data stored on your switch. Someone played stardew on your switch before, and that's what ur seeing. Ask ur spouse about it, because they may have accidentally played on your profile and created a new save.

Man, I'm such an idiot. When I read about the saved game on the Switch, I remembered that at some point there was this free trial of Stardew Valley on the Switch and that was apparently my game from back then...
Thanks a lot HappyPenguin

And I was still amazed at the saved game and thought: "Man, a lot has already been done for day 2"
