Switch river near ginger island farmhouse seems to be giving me saltwater fish

im fishing in the river on ginger island west near my farmhouse, but im catching saltwater fish and sea jelly instead of freshwater fish and river jelly. is this intentional? im assuming not.
(switch, version 1.6.9.39, singleplayer)

same this is happening to me, xbox, just updated. keep catching tuna, lionfish, and super cucumber in the river and pond next to the ginger island farmhouse. only noticed because i have an order to catch island fish

Also on the Switch, also having this problem. All freshwater spots on Ginger Island West seem to have the saltwater pool instead, you can't catch any freshwater fish anywhere on that part of the island.
For now, anyone looking for a fix like I was (so they can complete the Tropical Fish special order) can fish at the digsite, I've gotten Blue Discus from there successfully.

Having the same problem on Switch as well. I can also confirm the dig site workaround - I was able to catch a discus there.
