Hi, so! I am interested in the specific properties of dresser function but haven't gotten around to picking one(s) out yet, so I thought I'd explore some of the options here.
In my current farm, I've been leaving the old farm house without upgrades. While it's often fun to build it up as large as possible, I've replayed the game enough times to have a special fondness for the base house and the challenges imposed by its limited space. As this is my first new farm since the 1.5 update, I wanted to see how far I could push things without needing to upgrade the old farm house at all. Now that I am in summer of year 2, I am getting more options in the form of upgraded sheds as well as the "sleeping hut" on ginger island (which is funny since it is easily triple the size of the farm house, haha).
I really want to get a dresser, but I like having all the little momentos and things in my house and don't want it in there. So, question one is:
Can I put a dresser in either a shed or in the ginger island sleeping hut and still be able to use it for storage?
Because while using chests still is well and fine, the dresser is just so much better organised and overall more accommodating. Definitely also interested in seeing if a mini-fridge will work out on ginger island, but I just got one from Gus' special order quest, so I'll be able to answer that myself soon enough. Now, while considering the benefits between using a shed or the sleeping hut, another thought came to mind:
How does dresser storage data function? Does each dresser have its own storage, or does it draw from the same pool across all dressers?
It'd be pretty neat if it had a sort of minor junimo chest function, but only for clothes/rings, but I'm expecting more the former (each has its own storage) since that design choice would make more sense for multiplayer, in the event people would rather just have their own stuff and not have everything in a comingle. Still, I don't play multiplayer and would need to go out of my way to answer this question for myself, so if someone already has the answer and is feeling charitable enough to share their knowledge, I'd love to know!
EDIT:
I ended up answering my own questions, but in case anyone else might have been curious:
∙ Dressers work/can be placed in sheds
∙ Dressers work/can be placed in the sleeping hut on ginger island
∙ Dressers are each draw from their own storage cache, much like chests
∙ Bonus: Mini-fridge can also be placed on the small kitchen area in the ginger island sleeping hut
