I'm imagining it as lighthearted and funny as opposed to actually hurting them. Often times with the dwarf hammer, when I right click on a villager I've already talked to and cannot interact with anymore, or with my in-game kids, I absolutely slam them with the secondary attack. It's funny that no one reacts, but maybe they could. Or maybe just Mr Qi would react as he's so omnipotent and the only one who might "notice".
