Question Questions about creating a custom NPC

Hello! I've emerged haha. I kinda...forgot this place existed...oops.

I come with a question, recently I've taken an interest in custom NPCS, and I'd like to try a go at making one and I'm a little bit curious about frameworks (I know there's a pinned guide, but I also know that some stuff about modding changed after 1.6 and figured I'd better ask to be safe.). I've seen a handful of NPC's that only use content patcher, but I want to be sure: Is there absolutely any other framework/resource I need? I'm thinking of just a simple NPC character, maybe a small addition to the world for their home? Probably not even romanceable. Sprites and the art element doesn't worry me as much, in fact, that's what I'm most familiar with.

You can completely add an NPC through Content Patcher without any other frameworks-- whether it's a nonsocial, social, or romanceable NPC.

Adding their home would likely require making the map in Tiled and then loading the map patch or location through Content Patcher.
