Question regarding Cross-Platform Multiplayer support

Hi ConcernedApe and the Stardew team,
I love the game and have enjoyed playing it on multiple devices! I was wondering if there are any future plans to allow cross-platform multiplayer?
Specifically, I would love to be able to play on my iPad with friends who are on PC or other consoles. Is this something that might be technically possible in a future update?

It is currently possible to connect between PC and mobile devices (including iPad) to play multiplayer, but this feature is mostly for playing with people who are connected to the same wifi network as you. This link has more info about it https://www.stardewvalley.net/mobile-multiplayer-guide/
