Creator Response Question about Train Passing Through Event

Hi there,

So my wife and I recently got the second printing and during our first game, got the "Train is Passing Through" event card. This card stipulates that the starting player receives 1 stone, 1 iron ore, and 1 wood. And the wood is where our issue is. As far as I can tell, wood only appears in the season forageable tiles. Theres no standard wood tile. And in our game, we were only on our third season card when this event appeared so we hadnt yet foraged any wood.

Is there something I'm missing? Did we get some misprinted tiles? Or am I just not seeing them? Very confused.

I haven't gotten that item myself, but I would say in that instance, just grab one of the season tiles for a season you aren't in currently for the 1 wood. If you're past spring, just use one from spring to avoid it being an issue later, or if you are in spring, pick one from a later season so it's been used by the time you get to place that season's tiles.

I came here to ask the same thing. We used one from a different season's forageable cards as suggested above, but it didn't feel like the correct thing to do. For example, what happens if you want/need to hold onto the resource, a new season starts, and need to put down new forageables? If you use one forageable from another season, you potentially would need to be constantly trading cards from different season decks. As suggested above, after the first season, you could use the Spring cards without this issue and I don't anticipate that one would hold onto a resource like wood for that long of a time, but it definitely seems like an odd way, or at least, not the most elegant way to complete the "Train Passing Through" event card.

Edit: Cole responded to this question on the BGG forum. "Take from discard if you can, if not then take it from the board (any tree space you like)."

It makes sense that they wouldn't add a tile just for this one event, but still feels a little weird

Yeah this one can be a little awkward, but this is I think the best solution: "Take from discard if you can, if not then take it from the board (any tree space you like)."

This can also happen with the Mine Event that gives you Wood, and so it treated in similar fashion. Wood is collected from discard, otherwise the board.
