Though it may sound somewhat similar, it really isn't that much. The notes and keys are different.

It does sound similar to me, actually! I tried humming the mermaid song from memory then listened to the Close Encounters link. It turned out I had hummed the Close Encounters...
Probably not deliberate?

I'm no expert either, that's why I thought I'd post it here and see what others thought. I wouldn't have thought of it normally, but with several other alien / ufo references in Stardew, I figured "what the hell".
