Path just Pops up?

Has anyone had it happen where you're just running along and all of a sudden a piece of your path just pops up and joins your inventory? Usually it's on a path behind trees so it's hard to see; I just hear the pop and see that I have a piece of path. But just now I saw it in action. I was running home at around 1 a.m. and as I entered the farm I saw a wooden piece just detach for no reason.

I'm trying to recreate it now by going back to that day but I think it might be random.

Anyone else notice that?

Are you near the path when this happens or is it a few tiles away?

If you are near the path, you may have been holding tools and it was a misclick.

If you weren't near the path, maybe a piece of debris spawned?

I was nowhere near it and I wasn't holding a tool. Doesn't debris spawn overnight? The path was intact that morning when I went that way. It only popped up at night when I returned home.

This happens to me from time to time. From what I have noticed, it seems to be from Lightning strikes during storms.

I can't confirm this as I have not directly witnessed it, but I am 90% sure this is from lightning strikes.

I get these on some of my farms where I have a lot of flooring laid out right after a lightning storm. On occasion, I have heard the soft sound effect for an item "dropping" directly after a lightning strike, but generally have issues with locating it. Never actually seen it occur. This is roughly my experience with random floor tiles being loose and scoopable.

It just did it again! The next day. I definitely was not holding anything. There's nothing in the vacated space; no debris or worms. So odd. This would happen randomly in 1.4 too.

Oh!! It is stormy both today and yesterday thanks to chained rain totems. I have over 1,000 Starfruit seeds planted and I ain't watering! (My husband and I have a little competition going: who can get all the perfection points and everything in the Stardew checker first, living on the beach farm (so no sprinklers for most of the growable area), greenhouse only for seasonal plants, and no plants on Ginger Island except to fill Caroline's Tropical Ingredients quest and the cave frog's requests. )
