1.6 Update Opinion on 1.6

To start I am a casual gamer who has about 100+ hours on Stardew Valley over an extended period of time. I started on PC but am currently playing the Switch version.

I am just wanting to get back into the game, but curious if I should wait for 1.6 to drop on console. I dont want to start from scratch as my current farm is not too far along but it's my 3rd farm each with about 40 hours in game. I haven't really explored even close to end game and have made it to year 3, so I am just wondering if the update is worth waiting or will it not affect my experience that much?

Thanks 👍

If you don't plan on starting anew, don't wait for 1.6, use the time to get ready for it.

If you wanted to start a new farm for the update I would recommend waiting to make a playthrough on the new farm but since you seem fulfilled with the farms you have already, I'd just try acclimating back into the game and maybe doing some stuff that's no longer possible in 1.6.

I got tired of waiting for 1.6 to come out on PC so I went ahead and made a new save. Like a week later, the release date was announced. That said, I still had a fun week of playing Stardew Valley, even though I abandoned that save as soon as the new version came out.

So my suggestion - go ahead and play if you want to, enjoy it, and if the universe decides to make a joke and roll out the update for you as soon as you start playing, well then just laugh with the universe and enjoy the update when it comes.

That's great advice thanks, I was leaning towards that route originally just wasn't sure if the update would have anything worth waiting for and regretting not waiting.

I think the only 1.6 content that wouldn't be accessible on an established save is some of the new villager dialogue. There are times when they react to the farmer doing something for the first time or completing one-off goals so if you have already had those firsts and completed those goals you won't see the associated dialogue.

The main changes for 1.6 are unlocked a little later in the game so a more established farm will allow you to experience the new stuff more quickly.

Ok good to know that's more or less what I understood kind of from videos I've seen of the new content, just wanted to confirm now it's been out for abit on PC.
