Windows Not connecting to multi-player

Worked perfectly fine for months and all of a sudden my game doesn't want to connect to multi-player, my firewall is completely disabled and nothing on my system has changed. It's not my ISP, steam is open, launching it from steam blah blah blah.
The only solution I can find is reopening and closing the game about 100 times

Edit: copied over my girlfriends files and it fixed it for the time being, for some reason it copied over alot files I didn't have although just reinstalling the game from steam
