Switch No Rain in Spring or Fall after new 1.6 update

I recently started a new game after updating my switch version to 1.6, and now I have the strangest bug where it doesn't rain at all in Spring or Fall, except for Spring 3 and thunderstorms. I really wanted to try and complete the Community Center in Year 1, but that's almost impossible to do with this glitch, since you need a rain totem (requires Foraging Level 9, which is a challenge to get to in it of itself) to catch all the fish, and that requires truffles, which requires pigs... you see the issue. I LOVE this game and especially challenges like the Community Center, so I'm hoping it gets fixed soon. It sounds like a lot of other folks have also reported this problem.

I'm having the same issue - it's Fall 24 and I still haven't had a rainy day.

Guess that means the December 20 2024 update didn't fix this. It's for this reason why I'm not playing until it does get fixed.

The December 20th patch was for PC and mobile only. The last patch the Switch got was November 13th, I believe.

CA put out a tweet yesterday though saying they are still working on the Switch patch, so it sounds like we're next in line.

I’m on Switch 1.6 and I haven’t had an issue with rain. My wife’s save has had a lot less rainy days then my play through. Maybe you just got a bad seed?

I believe it has to do with whether or not you check the "Use legacy randomization" during character creation. Leaving it unchecked seems to lead to either no rain or lots of rain.

I don’t think I’ve seen that option, the only one I’ve seen (and always forget to do) is mixed (randomize?) bundles. So I don’t even know what that does.

It's at the very bottom of the advanced options list (the same place the remixed bundles option is) during character creation, and it's new in 1.6.

I'm only assuming it affects the chance for rain, as the issue only arose on Switch once 1.6 was released, and it seems like the most likely cause. To my understanding, legacy randomization was rather simple with it's RNG, so it was fairly easy to predict when certain things would happen. Or to manipulate them into happening. This new randomization 'fixed' that. My assumption lies in the ranges for rain not being correct, thus resulting in no rain at all, or lots and lots of rain, which seems to be the only options I have read about on Switch.

I'm strictly a Switch player myself, and have been waiting for 1.6 to be all patched up before I start playing a 1.6 farm. So I've not tested any of this myself.

I’m also strictly on Switch. I can tell you from two different play throughs (mine and my wife’s) that the rain seems to be up to your seed. As I said in my previous post my play through had rainy days all throughout the seasons (except winter) and my wife’s play through had a lot fewer, but it wasn’t just rain on spring 3. She just had noticeably less rainy days then my play through.

My wife seemed to have a bug on her ginger island farm where it rained every day she would go there to harvest but she fixed it by staying the night there.

There are a few bugs in the 1.6 switch addition, but as far as I could tell if you aren’t playing a co-op game the bugs aren’t anything that’ll ruin your experience. My wife likes to make a few co-op cabins for processing houses and extra sets of tools and she had quite a few problems with the game crashing while she was upgrading the tools/houses.
