Xbox No Freshwater fish on Ginger Island

I was over in Ginger Island trying to do the Aquatic Research task and when I went to the little pond, the river and the dig site river I was still catching Lionfish/Tunas but no Freshwater fish. This is my first time trying to catch them and I dont' think I missed any "trigger" for them to be available (nothing in the wiki telling me otherwise)

I am running, according to the file info in the xbox, 1.6.9.42 or, according to the ? box on the title screen, 1.6.9 (build 40). Has anyone else noticed this or experiencing the same?

I am seeing them now at the dig site if I'm fishing from the upper bridge. I think I might also have had to fish to the north but I am going from memory and it may not have mattered.
