Switch Nintendo Switch stardew valley controls not working

I have a relatively new Nintendo Switch 1 or so weeks old and I got Stardew Valley since I thought it would be a fun game when it was night. I tried to click the button to go to sleep which I checked was the right button on the controls list provided instead of using the item it picked the item up so I literally couldn't pay the game. I'm quite new to the game so I checked the controls please correct me if I have made any mistakes. This needs to be fixed because I cant play. Can anyone help?

maybe you didn't walk into your bed all the way, because it should say "go to sleep for the night?" and you pick yes or no. I hope this helps

Hi! It sounds like you accidentally picked up your bed. If you walk into the bed instead, a message like this should appear:

yeah i checked and i got that but then the next night it just picked up the bed instead of sleeping and it did that to all the items not just the bed as well. The time i was going to bed was 10pm

It did that to all the items like the chair and tv which is what im confused about
