Get some items, and select them. Then tap on your hat slot. Make sure you are not wearing a hat. Duplicates them!

So that's what happened! I think I triggered this by accident once and I was so confused that I reset the day, afraid some of my things were going to disappear 😂

This kind of issue probably revolves around issues with mobiles inability to properly hold items outside of inventories (at least not in the same way you can on PC/console where you can drag and drop items out of the inventory for example).

What ends up happening is you effectively put the item into a place it can't be, the game looks at it and sees its an invalid item so it puts it back in your inventory, but since you weren't really picking it up, it was also in your inventory, and both get put into your inventory. Same thing used to happen years ago on all platforms with certain buttons and dragging items, but seemingly the root cause wasn't addressed in the same manner on mobile due to constraints with mobile controls.
