New Advanced Options ideas.

  • Farm Cave - Option to make it available or unavailable; (default - available)
  • NPC Birthday - Option for you to lose friendship hearts when you don't give a gift to a NPC on his/her birthday, from 0 to 3; (default - 0)
  • Sprinkler - Option to make Sprinklers work on Garden Pots; (default - disabled)
  • Season Lenght - Option to change how many months a season will last, up to 3. Will also spread NPC birthdays and Festivals dates; (default - 1)
  • Artifact Spots - Option to change Artifacts Spots to either have a chance to dig artifacts based on location, or being totally random; (default - location)
  • Time Flow - Pretty self-explanatory, this will change how many real-time seconds are necessary to pass 10 minutes in-game. I'm not suggesting this one just because of multiplayer, I'm starting to feel the game becoming more like a speedrun than a relaxed experience, even when I automated a lot of things in the farm. I guess that the default cycle wasn't so bad at first because there wasn't so much content as we have today.

Don't get me wrong, my post isn't a bash, just my opinions on your ideas. I guess most of them require more work then the benefit they provide

Farm Cave -> Would anyone disable it? I don't think so. Either it is a good food source or a help for completing the community center
Sprinkler -> On PC there is a mod. And as of 1.5 there is no need anymore because a) there is now a 100% retaining soil plus b) (at least indoors, didn't test outdoor) the fertilizer is kept at season change
Season length -> While i would support this idea, i guess it is very unlikely it will ever be added because it requires a ton of work
Artifact Spots -> I really like this idea. That also allows decorating certain areas before all artifacts are found. If possible i would exten this idea so that as long as not all artifacts from a certain region are found, those will be found first
Time Flow -> I'm not sure how gametime, fps, producing machines, etc. are tied together so it may be to difficult to change but in general I like this idea. LIke 50%, 75%, 100% of usual time would be nice.

Just a idea for a extra challenge. We already have a option to reduce how much gold we earn from selling things, so why not this one?

It's not that complicated. For every 7 seconds in real life, 10 minutes are added to the in-game clock, and all production machines only take in-game time into consideration. If you change the time flow (like, making it 10 mins for every real life 14 seconds) everything will adjust accordingly. The only exception are buffs/debuffs, since they expire based on real-time rathen than the in-game time, but they are completely separate and changing the time flow in-game wouldn't mess it up.

I recently downloaded a mod that allows you to change the time flow, and it's quite easy to use, so I don't think it would be that difficult to implement in the game itself.

I loved your Time Flow idea. It's like a speedrun when we play multiplayer, because game doesn't pause when you open your inventory or a chest...
We need this option really bad.

Farm Cave - Option to make it available or unavailable; (default - available)
Sure. Why not? If folks want to make their game harder, I have no problem with this.
NPC Birthday - Option for you to lose friendship hearts when you don't give a gift to a NPC on his/her birthday, from 0 to 3; (default - 0)
I would never use this system. It makes every NPC really passive aggressive.
Sprinkler - Option to make Sprinklers work on Garden Pots; (default - disabled)
I've never understood why this doesn't work.
Season Lenght - Option to change how many months a season will last, up to 3. Will also spread NPC birthdays and Festivals dates; (default - 1)
I think that the season length and the time needed to grow crops are pretty well balanced. If you change the length of the season, you end up planting 3 times as much of the same stuff every season... but you should be advancing to new seasons and new ingredients sooner than that, if you ask me.

TL;DR: I wouldn't use it as I think time moves at a good rate already.
Artifact Spots - Option to change Artifacts Spots to either have a chance to dig artifacts based on location, or being totally random; (default - location)
Random... as in you can now get ANY artifact from ANY artifact dig location? While I see how this could be seen as an advantage... in some cases it would limit you. Consider when you only have a couple artifacts left to complete the collection, if this option were on you would have to hit every artifact location and just hope that you got the artifact you needed. Without this option, however, you could target areas where the artifacts you need are located. Basically, it could make getting a lot of the collection easier... but getting ALL of the collection harder. I'm not sure I like it.

While I do feel rushed quite often, the compressed time that the game gives means you're not taking a real life year to progress through an in-game year, you know? This is, in a sense, just another way to slow the game down, much like the "Season Length" part of your idea. I'm not sure it's necessary. It makes you have to choose between what to do options instead of everyone doing the same things, you know?

Fully support your idea about sprinklers . I myself posted almost similar suggestion , and waiting this possibility since garden pots have appeared in the game .

blahblah garden pots
I've never understood why this doesn't work.
If i had to guess, i'd say it's because the sprinklers only interact with soil, as in stuff on the ground, while the garden pots are recognized by the game as furniture, or a machine, or something to that effect.

Always wanted to extend day time at least 2x... For real, it feels like a speed run, especially in multiplayer, you can’t really enjoy everything when you have to rush like a crazy to experience all the goodness this game has to offer...

Harvest Moon was kinda the same way, except in HM you could stay out late, past 2am and do all the things to your heart's content. Probably the best advice is to just play at your own pace. Achievements and the community center should be 100% optional to your playstyle, as should the grandpa at the end of year 2. A diamond to get re-evaluated is extremely cheap. Even if you take until year 6 to complete the community center or get all of grandpa's candles, there is literally zero ill affect on you, which is one of the good things about Stardew vs HM, as HM ended at the end of year 3 whether you liked it or not.
