PlayStation New 1.6 console bug

Headed over to the mines around level 80, when I swung the galaxy sword it left a permanant purple trail and the monster was stuck in place. Every time i swung the sword after that, another trail was left. All mobs were frozen after that. This continued until I left the mines.

Huh. This doesn't look like a bug to me, it looks like a new feature. Maybe I'm wrong. Is this happening for anyone else?

My wife and I got the same "visual bug" while playing split screen on Switch. She is the host. And when she swings her sword or pickaxe the animation stays frozen in the air, items can't be picked up etc.

Edit: She was on level 1 with the starter sword, for reference.

Might be a multiplayer issue, I was also hosting split-screen co-op when it happened

Experiencing this as well, doesn't seem to matter what the other player is doing, some floors just freeze up. Can't pick up item drops or hit monsters more than once. You can still collect forageables like quartz and use stairs, but not much else.

I'm also having this issue on the co-op version of the Switch!
