Museum Collection: weighted chance for finding based on donated items

I'm almost done with the 6th year on my first save file and I have collected every artifact at least twenty times over . . . but I haven't found the arrowhead even ONCE.

I'd like to see a hidden mechanic implemented that lowers the chance for donated artifacts to be found and raises the chance for ones that haven't been donated yet. Then, once they're all donated, the chances reset back to normal.

I think it's different for every save file, there's always that one item you can never find, but a couple of items you find every time you look.

I'm not sure if the rebalancing you suggest wouldn't make it to easy for my taste.

While I also like this idea, it have to be carefully implemented. First, there are multiple ways to aquire some or any of the artifacts, like fishing, tilling, artifact troves. At least opening geodes/troves is somehow currently static (have a look at Stardew Predictor). And secondly, and I'm not aware of all of them, some additional mechanics and features starting with 1.5 and beyond, require specific artifacts. E.g. some fishing quests require dwarf scrolls and one item as of 1.5 require a specific dwarven artefact to be able to craft it.
So assuming your idea would be implemented, it would be ironically that some artifacts required for mechanics, quest or craftable items would be much harder to aquire.
