Switch Multiplayer Crossplatform

Hi everyone!

So i've been researching this issue for some time now but the answers are quite obscure and i'm hoping someone could help me out. I've rented a third party server (Shockbyte) to be able to host a Stardew Valley game where i (PC) would like to play with a friend who is on a Switch.

Is this any at all possible? Some say yes, some say no? When trying to connect online from the Switch's POV there is no way to join any game. The page is empty.

Could someone help me out?

Thanks in advance!

Grtz,

Howdy,
I really don't know, I will make sure to check today on my Switch and get back to you as quick as I can!

Hi Witherin!

So what i've found on the wiki and in testing so far is that a Switch player can only play with an other Switch player online. I've started a new farm on my own switch which i have hosted through "Co-op -> Online Communication -> Host". I had to make sure that my friend was indeed a Ninentendo friend as well. This was the only way possible to make another person access my hosted game. Nintendo online will only look for players (friend) which are hosting a game. There seems to be no other way and no way at all for any cross platform.

I read a small note in the wiki that mentioned that crossplay was indeed not available but yet there seems to be some boasting about it so it is quite confusing.

@Stardew, i am well aware of any platform restrictions that nintendo or others might impose but damn would it be lovely if this would be possible. I dont even know if it is a Nintendo restriction at this point that kills any opportunity for cross platform. Anyhow, i hope this can added one day or can get clarified at some point.
