Moving full chests into buildings?

I know there’s a way to move a full chest with a Pickaxe or an empty hand after hitting it a handful of times.. but is there a way to get a full chest into a building or shed?

I have been terrible.. I have put almost all of my chests outside, and Im a changed woman now , I realize how great a shed would be lol
Anywho i just know it’s going to take sooo long to transfer each thing one by one, so I’m praying there’s something else I can do!

Sadly, you will need to move the stuff by putting it in your backpack to transfer things to a chest inside a building.

I've got chests outside, one each for the crops and forageables for the seasons, one for flowers and one for crafting material. This is for easy access so I won't have to run into a building to unload if the backpack gets full because several crops ripened that day. The chests in my sheds hold the stuff waiting to go into the processing machines in that shed. One or two inside the house for stuff that will be used in the house, like decorations.

If you have a bunch of chests holding a collection of various items, then I can see a shed for that being a good idea, and a pain to move it there.

Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a way to move a full chest into a building.

What I do is make a new chest, unload everything but my pickaxe into it, fill my backback with everything from the old chest, knock out the old chest and grab it, too. Then I move everything into the new one and place the old one wherever I want it. I usually take the opportunity to reorganize or set up a chest in another fishing location or mine/cave.

I just did this on a play through where I'm not selling stuff. It took a whole day to move and sort. It would be good if you could move them like you can move buildings but inside or outside. I always start with them outside because the cabin is too small so at some point I move them inside.

I would agree, too, you cannot move them full into or out of buildings, at least that's what the Wiki says about it.

No way to unfortunately, closest would be junimo chests but they're super awkward due to the small inventory size they have. It isn't a bad idea to use the backpack and them if you're moving from inside one building to the inside of another that's far away. That's what i did when I turned my storage shed into a storage cabin and needed to move like 60-70 chests of items.
