Monthly question

Hi, so I'm new to this website but I've been playing Stardew valley for about 2 years now. My first account I made I'm in year 5 of fall, nearing the end. I want to try to get on here monthly if I'm able and ask about how everyone's gaming is going just to chat or hear about people's experiences they've chosen to go through in their games. I also play the Switch version so idk how different everyone's gameplay is from the switch. Let me know what console you play on as well 😁 So I'll go first by explaining where I'm at so far and what I'm doing in my game.
So I took the community center route, mainly because I forgot you could do the membership at Joja mart but I didn't want to do that anyway. However I have been thinking of doing it in another account I have just to see how different the game might be from what I have in my current account I play regularly. Beginning of my year 5 of fall, I finally got the Walleye fish cuz I never really looked up stuff for the game as I wanted to try to figure it out on my own, but I ended up doing it anyway because I was so sick of not getting one😂 so I just barely finished my community center which put Joja mart out of business and apparently one last Junimo didnt get to go home, so now I have the option to turn the Joja market into a movie theater after I get the materials for it. I'm on the beach farm as well, so it's pretty interesting compared to the others. I never really knew at first that I could choose my farm, I just created my character and started the game so that's why I have the beach farm. I have made at least 3 other accounts and they each have different farms, though I haven't gotten very far on any of those yet as I love playing my main one where I've accomplished so much so far.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and hopefully I can hear from some of you about your gaming 😄✌🏼

I've been a tad busy in real life to be playing much of anything, though I've snuck in a couple sessions here and there. I play PC and mobile, primarily the latter though because it's just so handy to play on my commute (by public transport, don't worry) and in this world it's less common to be stuck without my phone than having it permanently on me, for better or for worse.

That being said, I've been working away in a couple postgame saves, I like collecting items and breaking the game through bugs so I've mostly been messing around with the absolute plethora of bugs on mobile as of now. Right now I'm working on quick challenge to catch the legend on day 1 using a whole bag of glitches (buff stacking, name injection, item ids, and general mobile save state abuse) and plan to make a short yt video about it which I think will be fun to document.

I was grinding infested FL 11 for Wind Spire today (and I did manage to get it!). I saw a lot of things today at FL11 which was pretty cool :

I noticed that some "random" infested floor spawn at FL11 is less "random" than others. In particular, I always see a variation with a singular bat and another monster, which was odd to me. I had applied Monster Musk as well. Something make bats at FL11 repel other monsters?

I also noticed a cute little blue special slime at FL11 which was a pleasant surprise, considering these floors usually have predominantly green slimes, so the blue + special slime is ooh so unique. Unfortunately it dropped some other special loot, but he is still a cute little visitor along the journey.

Now I'm back to woe Penny with all three of my farmers and divorce her three times at 15 hearts to get all her loots. It's the most tragic fated event to befall the valley every time, but thankfully the doves may ease her pain a little.

Haven't played much stardew lately sadly.

Been busy with a lot of homework (going to a stem school thats super rigorous, 3 ap classes, lab aiding, etc.) so the only video game I've played much is Animal Crossing. I have all the golden tools in City Folk, New Leaf, and New Horizons now!!
Wow that's a few classes but super cool. That's awesome with those games, I haven't heard of some of those. I've heard of animal crossing but still haven't tried it out yet myself. So far though I've just loved Stardew valley a lot.

Better make it quick in case those glitches are soon gone forever! Maybe they’re not, but they could be!

Oh they totally may be, I'm honestly not taking the risk, turned automatic updates off and don't plan to update unless a couple of my major bugs come along with me. If not then I'll be in 1.5 for the forseeable future

Don't blame you, but is it possible to have two exe directories?

Yes but not simultaneously unless you buy SDV from 2 different places. So I have a GOG version at v1.5.6 (LOL never updated) and a Steam version at 1.6.x. In Steam you can toggle between v1.5.6 and v1.6.x but it only lets you have one version installed at a time.

If you were a nutty nut, you could install as many GOG offline versions as you like (assuming you downloaded and forgot to delete safely kept them somewhere) in different folders and run v1.3, 1.4, 1.5, or 1.6 depending on your mood that day, but as ALL versions save their games to the same Saves folder, you'd need to do a bit of bookkeeping to keep your saves at the proper version number and not accidentally upgrade a v1.3 to v1.5 or whatever.

I have these offline installers and can do this. I choose not to because my brain does not support that level of organization and anyway I like the silly monster-eating frogs in v1.6 because they make me laugh. Just the best thing added to the game.

Yep, I have a couple and Lew is a little mistaken about it, you don't have to have bought it in 2 places, just steam (and I assume gog) by itself is fine.

You can basically go into your files and copy the game (not save files, the game itself from steam/common) as many times as you want, I believe you can even set it up so they redirect to different file folders for your saves (useful if you want to have one instant be vanilla and the other modding with no risk of file contamination/corruption)

I have a few for different updates, 1.4.X(don't remember), 1.5.6, 1.6.0, 1.6.8, and soon to be 1.6.9. I just keep them pinned to my screen in my computer.

I think the problem is getting that 1.6.0 version if all we have is access to is the current versions. Can someone get v1.6.0 or other old versions if they haven't squirreled it away already, whether the standalone installers from GOG or the Steam download? Unless you've planned ahead (or stumble into old installers like me), it seems like we only have access to v1.5.6 and v1.6.current. If there's a way to get those other versions that I've overlooked, then that would be great!

There are ways to 'downgrade' on steam (and I'm pretty sure it's completely legal too).

If you want I can send you an invite to a speedrunning discord I'm on that has a guide and resources for how to downgrade to any version on steam

OK that's pretty cool and thanks for the very kind offer but I do have all the older version installers I need (LOL I just checked to see what I have today when reviewing a backup). I had no idea that was accessible from Steam (through I'm sure through pretty clever means) so that's really great news as I get rather annoyed when losing access to older versions of things.

That's great to hear!

You having everything reminds me of my own missing versions, I may have to take myself up on my own offer sometime, I've been really wanting to play 1.4.0 (basically the best patch for skull cavern) for ages and have just been putting it off

I'd be interested in the guide on downgrading to a previous version. My own attempts to do so have not been fruitful. :(

Give me a direct message here on the forums with your discord username and I will send you an invite to a server with a full guide and people you can ask for help. It's a rather simple process but it's far easier to use an established guide than for me to try and explain every step here.

This offer stands for anyone. Do message me first here on the forums and let me message you though, I will not respond to unsolicited direct messages on discord without specific confirmation that you're reaching out to me.
