I completed the monster eradication goal for cave bugs before the first time that I entered the Adventurer's Guild on a new 1.6 game (1.6.13, I think -- it might have been 1.6.9, I can't remember whether I updated first or not, and this is on iOS) and I got the pop-up alert that I had completed the quest and should see Gil, despite never entering the guild, looking at the goals, or meeting Gil. I had received the guild initiation quest already but might or might not have even finished slaying 10 slimes by that point (I'm afraid I can't remember how that lined up exactly either; I'd pushed hard on the first mining day and gotten deep enough to have lots of bugs and not so many slimes around).
