Hello! I have played Y1 Spring 24 to after 1:00 AM in game three times now, and each time before I could get to bed, my USB keyboard and mouse disconnected and stopped working, leaving me no options but to restart my PC and lose the whole day. This only happens while playing Stardew, not any other game or activity. It has happened a few times before in Stardew, but usually I am able to finish a full day eventually.
What happens is that the game stutters a bit, my mouse and keyboard lights flash, and then both disconnect. When I unplug and re-connect them in different USB ports, the lights come on (I am able to change up the light sequence on my mechanical keyboard), but the PC doesn't recognize them, and since I am stuck in-game, the only option I have is to hard restart the PC with the power button and lose a whole day's progress. I have tried to update all USB device drivers, etc., but each time I get the result that the drivers are up to date. Plugging in a different USB keyboard or mouse doesn't do anything, the PC just stops recognizing the USB ports (plugging in a USB thumb drive causes the light on the drive to light up, but I don't get the USB drive connection noise, and I'm still stuck unable to interact with the PC in any way).
Earlier when I was having this same problem, while looking for solutions online, I tried going into the Device Manager, USB controllers, and then for each thing listed there (Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub, etc.), clicking Properties, going to Power Management, and unchecking the box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for each one that had that option. After I did that, Stardew would stutter while I was moving in-game and some features of mods wouldn't work correctly (most frustratingly, the channel feature of Stardew Druid wouldn't complete but would keep restarting). I re-checked all of those boxes, and Stardew started working again, except for this issue with the USB devices disconnecting before the end of the day.
My SMAPI Log (uploaded at the beginning of the day, if I try to upload it from after the keyboard/mouse disconnect happens, it is always too large to save/parse): https://smapi.io/log/a17b9ec9b0924bb584f092f4988a6b53
I play with Steam in offline mode to avoid online interactions. I can't think of anything else that might be relevant. This is driving me crazy, I suffer from PTSD and playing something like Stardew is one of the few things that helps when it gets bad, but this issue is really starting to get to me as I constantly lose progress. I recognize this is a long shot, but I saw a couple of old Reddit posts with similar issues that were never answered/resolved, so it seems I might not be the only person with this problem. If anybody more savvy than me can help out, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks to everyone in the modding community for all of the amazing work they do in making a great game even better!
