Fully upgraded Cabins, or Big Sheds?

I am at a turning point, finalizing my layout for this save, which i plan to make it my main one and stick with it, everafter. Problem is, i still cannot decide, over what i use to house machinery in bulk... Should i maximize 7 cabins? Or use 5 Big Sheds, in their stead?

Cabins:
586x empty spaces to put something
extra cellar!
expensive to fully upgrade
Time consuming to harvest all things inside (probably not feasible for even 1 full cabin over the span of 1 in-game day)
smaller room occupied on map

Big Shed:
137x or 167x empty spaces to put something
only one big, open space
cheaper than a cabin, on the long run
Time-efficient to harvest all things inside
bigger room occupied on map

What's your preference and why, for that one perfect end-game design you can envision?

Neither, off the farm!

There are a lot of amazing spots off the farm that you can fill up with machinery, they:
1. Don't take up any farm space (or resources to set up the buildings, cabins especially are fairly costly)
2. Aren't slower to get to than on farm sheds, most criticism for off farm machinery is that it's slower to get to than buildings directly on the farm. You'd actually be surprised though how fast most good areas are to get to, the whole backwoods just requires walking upwards on the farm (and links to the tunnel), the quarry can be basically teleported to, you can basically teleport to island west directly (most have stuff there anyway, too), etc.
3. Aren't slower to harvest/inefficient optimizing-wise, the other go-to criticism, building off the previous point, while certain space-optimized layouts could be slower, there are also layouts you can use that are more time efficient than buildings (especially because there's always time in moving between sheds that you can basically get rid of with off farm spaces that flow into one-another (like backwoods into tunnel into mountains into railroad and so on))
4. Have a LOT of space, many people underestimate just how much space is off farm. While there are some maps that are just not worth using without locking npcs away or using furniture to make them unable to destroy machinery, there are many that are just open, npc-less space that can fit thousands of machines

I upscaled both to biggest level
If you want to put more machines, i suggest you upgrade your shed
You can handle all the kegs or gem machines quickly once a day

Cabin technically is your house where you live with your spouse.
I don't feel like putting anything irrelevant to furniture or ornaments in my house.
This is the warm place I sleep and relax !
This shouldn't be functional.

Anyway, it depends on your preference
you have final discretion to pick either of them to upgrade
just be aware that upgrading cabin is super expensive

I don't feel like putting machines outside a house neither
psychologically they will get rusty or broken (actually in the game, they will not be broken anywhere)

I always go sheds because I don't like fussing with multiplayer. That said, some of the cabins look really cool, so if you're going after a specific aesthetic, that's something to consider.
I don't use cabins for the same reasons.

I understand the arguments of @FilthyGorilla about outdoor machines and I'm sure he knows what he says. Yet, when I place machines outdoor, it always happen that they are on my way when roaming in the farm or the valley, so I use upgraded sheds to store machines and other processing items/storages.

One thing I will comment is that there are many locations you can place machines that are never in the way at all, unless you like to frequent random locations just for the fun of it.

Take for example the tunnel, outside of the casino questline, no player visits or spends much actual time there. You can easily fit a good sheds worth of machinery in there however, which saves the cost in making that shed as well as the effective 30 tiles of farm space it uses (footprint of 21, as well as space to actually access the door).

Some places definitely can get in the way, but you'll often find yourself running out of machines to fill spaces before you start reaching parts of the map that machines can actually obstruct you in. Places like the tunnel, quarry, backwoods road, south cindersap, sewer, mutant bug lair are all places that are final destinations in themselves so to speak (as in, they aren't really passthrough locations used to get anywhere else), so they work rather well as areas for machinery without getting in the way of travelling anywhere.

Later in the game with more teleporting options, more areas open up too. For example, with the mountain obelisk, the backwoods isn't really a quick path anywhere (and isn't really useful for any exclusive drops or anything, just an Abigail cutscene)

Okay. Back to sheds it is! And since Filthy Gorilla's advice is always valuable, i will also implement his idea, in tandem!

Thank you all for helping me decide!
