Luau didn't trigger

Anyone else ever had this happen? I had my dazzling ingredient to add to the potluck, show up and nothing's going on at the beach. So I check the calendar and it says it's the day for the luau. All the shops are closed. Lots of strange things going on in my Stardew Valley lately

Yes, I went at the right time, even though the message never popped up saying it had begun. It was definitely the right day. I checked several times. So I just quit the game and restarted. Did everything exactly the same way, showed up on the beach and they were having the luau. Maybe some kind of NPC prank the villagers are playing on me, I don't know.

Nope, no mods. I did ride my horse to the beach using the shortcut near Leah's house. But the message saying the luau had started never came up either. Luckily, I've played enough times to know when something's supposed to happen and if not, I just log off and then back on again. Replay my day until it triggers. Kind of like virtual deja vu. lol
