Looking up if item is used in crafting recipes

I don’t know about anyone else, but I think that there should be some type of page to see if an item is used in crafting recipes and what recipes those may be. Sure you can always look it up on the Stardew wiki, or just look at the recipes on the game, but I’m getting a little tired of pausing the game and looking up what crafting recipes an item is used in, or looking through every crafting recipe I have every time I worry that I’m going to sell something I may need later. It’s not that big of a hassle but it would save some time and energy if I could just figure that stuff out with the click of a button. To be more specific im just talking about crafting recipes, not wether an item is used in a NPC quest or anything like that.

All items you can create in the crafting/cooking menus list the items needed to craft the new item though. I don't need to go to the wiki for recipes.

I feel like I'm misunderstanding something.

They're saying they wish there was a way in game to see if an item, say bat wings, are used in any crafting recipes, and therefore if they should be saving or selling them.

Unfortunately I'm not sure this is really something the game could add, because even if there was something like this, it would only work for the recipes you had unlocked at that point. In my experience you'll get a feeling over time for what items are commonly used in crafting and which aren't. For example, unique minerals that come from geodes mostly aren't used in crafting, while many of the ones you can earn directly from nodes in the mines are used.

No you’re right, I’m just talking more specifically about when I’m deciding wether or not to sell something. I think there should be a way to check if an item is used in crafting recipes without having to look through every recipe to see if it’s used before I sell it. For example, if I am deciding wether I want to sell a beet, I want there to be something (I’m not sure what it would be, wether it’s a a little button or something i don’t know) that can tell me that it can be used to make, for instance, sugar without having to look through every recipe to find out. Does that make sense?

Yeah I couldn’t really figure out how it would work. Maybe something simpler could be that when you have an item in your inventory, the recipes containing items you have in your inventory show up first? Not just that they light up when you have every item necessary to craft it. So like if I have wood in my inventory, the recipes containing wood show up at the top.

I think you should just assume you need to save everything. You should certainly save any food item, resource, or monster drop.

Going beyond crafting, there are items for the community center, gifts to the villagers, items to expand the fish pond, and more. My understanding is that there is a unique bit of clothing that can be made from literally every item you can find. Not sure if that is correct or not, but you can make clothing out of just about anything, from blueberries, to dwarf scrolls, to broken CDs, to prismatic shards. If you are playing the game, the answer to "if I should save this" is yes, it's always yes, and you don't need a chart to tell you you need to save it.

The only object that this is an issue for me is museum objects that are incredibly rare. You give it to the museum but, WOOPS, you actually needed it for something, and now you have to wait, and wait, and wait, to get another one.
