Late game farm animals (spoiler alert!)

Namely Ostriches. I think they are adorable, especially the babies, and want to hatch an ostrich area. I had a few on another farm, but want a whole lot 2-3 barns full. Maybe more. I’ve accumulated quite a few eggs now compliments of the volcano, have deluxe barns and can easily make the incubators, so am ready to go. I know ostriches aren’t money makers but I don’t care much as I’m pretty set money wise and this is more for fun. However I was wondering if dropping the eggs in as is or turning them into the 10 gold star mayos is most profitable? I’m usually tiller and artisan, but will switch to rancher and coop-master for a time until they are hatched. Thanks!

I get Ostriches for the looks and because I need them for perfection. Im not sure if it's better but I would use the place where you could put a ostrich and put a pig in there (iridium truffles are expensive)

They are actually great money makers, better than any coop animal besides the post game golden chicken and a good content against pigs as they require very little upkeep.

the mayo they make is 10 of the quality of the egg, not always 10 gold quality. So if you put a silver egg in you’ll get 10 silver mayo

If it comes to gifting Leo, I think that duck feathers are a better choice than ostrich eggs: also produced by animals, are dropped more often, and one makes less money by selling a feather than by selling 10 mayos. And by the time the farmer gets access to ostriches, it is very likely than his/her ducks produce feathers on a very regular basis and not only eggs.

Leo and Elliot get a lifetime supply of duck feathers as soon as I enter my gifting rampage of each save. It’s actually incredibly handy as it’s the same trip to the coops for rabbit feet and I don’t have to waste those rabbit feet I always get far less of than I want.
