Junimo Cart Win

This was a great achievement! I recently beat it again too, I thought it was gonna take me forever again but apparently the muscle memory is still in tact (two years or so later!).
And this was before Mr. Barone buffed the mushroom stage (by removing double mushrooms). Honestly, I would probably prefer that stage to the volcano one lol (if I get to play it again post buff), the whole screen flashing red just blinds me everytime it comes up, but I did beat it with Volcano stage this time around.

How did you manage? I beat the Journey of the Prairie King before, without dying, but i could never manage the Junimo kart!

Please, master, teach us!!!
I have this guide some time ago, if you are interested: https://forums.stardewvalley.net/threads/finally-beat-junimo-kart-heres-my-experience.13965/

My only new piece of suggestion after my second time completing is this: You can pause in-game! Use it!! I was shaking everytime I completed Volcano/Mushroom and several of my blunders are purely nerves alone from the last stage. Calm your nerves and focus on the last stage - if you conquered Volcano/Mushroom, this stage should be easier, but you do need good judgment of distance to gauge which small platform to jump to to succeed so every bit of calmness helps!

Wow Congratulations you beat the final boss of Stardew! Some may put Fector's Challenge in that spot as there's the Achievement for it but really it's any flavor of Junimo Kart.

Thanks for the advice and 100% on the shaking bit! It sounds like there may be a delicate balance between calming down and getting out of "the zone" where you're head instead decides that petting the cat might be a better use of time.

How do you pause? I only ever seem to exit the game if I try to stop

It takes both a lot of practice and track RNG. And the ability to make split-second decisions goes a long way too.

There's been plenty of balance changes since 1.6.

The whale spews far less bubbles, the cart can jump a smidgen further off the front edge of the track and seem to be more sensitive to reaching rails, and from there it's just a matter of judicious geometry mapping in your head.

Well, I got to 100,000 then accidentally closed Junimo Kart. Had a good cry over that.
Oh gosh, maybe it isn't advisable to suggest people to pause in game lol - I can totally see myself mistaking quitting the game as pausing in the heat of the moment... I would stop playing the game for weeks if that happens :junicheer:

I can only speak for the Switch, but on there it's just the + button!

I recently found out that pressing the 'p' key on Steam does it. I can't believe I didn't know that! IT would have made this slightly less of a slog.

Now I'm in the process of going for a deathless run in JotPK and am now at the first boss with 1 upgrade for fire rate and damage each. Any other tips for how many coins I should be making and what upgrades I should go for? I forget how many coins I have now.

You may be just asking this question broadly for everyone but just in case - you are asking the wrong person haha. I am very bad at Journey of the Prairie King, and I can never beat it without my brother or resetting the day.

I have achieved deathless only by doing one stage per day and if at any point I mess up I just time travel back to when I didn't and redid that day until I beat the next stage deathless (I restarted sooo many times)

I have not done JotPK as much as Junimo Kart so I don't know the meta, but I can tell you what I prefer:
  1. Initial two stages for World I:
    1. Prioritize Shooting Speed (I don't usually move a lot, so I don't really care for movement speed; if you can kill your enemies enough you don't really need to move anyway; ammo damage should not be important as most enemies are one-kill at this point [those that are not, you can handle easier with shooting speed too)
    2. See if you can "save" the Sheriff Badge and if not the Wagon Wheel is also nice
    3. I have had 30-40 coins at most stage 1 (?) but that's really lucky with multiple 5 coins... you don't really need to optimize coins because sometimes RNG is just bad... but I guess you can ensure RNG will always work more in your favor by restarting Stage 1 until you started with a massive amount of coins (so even if you got bad RNG later stages and got a coin drought, you have reserves)
    4. Don't Screen Nuke - You don't get coins this way, and at least in this world you will want coins
  2. Later two stages for World I:
    1. I like one upgrade to Ammo Damage so I can kill Ogre quicker by one hit
    2. These stages feel very easy to me because sometimes Spikeballs will even block entrances for you so enemies are lined up in a single file for you to kill
    3. Make sure you are not too greedily killing everything in all directions (in order to focus on the loots when they drop). Sometimes you kill multiple monsters in different directions and they all decide to drop loots, and now you have to make a decision which one you want to forego...
  3. World II:
    1. I don't see any other crazy enemies where you need to switch your upgrade strategies, at this point you should be able to one-shot anything except Ogres
    2. Make sure you aren't too much to the sides, because Evil Butterflies will catch you off guard
    3. Make sure you build enough of a coin reserve to upgrade Ammo Damage to the next level
  4. World III:
    1. At this point your ammo damage should one shot faster enemies and two shot slower enemies (i.e., Mummy). Any further upgrade to ammo damage is useless. I would continue to upgrade Shooting Speed if I have the coins (I usually don't...)
    2. Since there are lots of enemies, there will also be more than usual amount of loots - When at a pinch, don't save your power ups! Mummies like to swarm and you will want to appropriately use the power ups to deal with them at a pinch, and in my experience you can just find another one among the Mummy loots anyway
    3. Make sure you have Sheriff Badge just in time for the final boss if you can...
    4. It may now be a good time to Screen Nuke, if you feel your upgrades are sufficient enough

Been a while, but I thought I'd say a few more things that helped with specific levels. Plus some other generic tips

A. Hope that no barricades are at the very ends of tracks, especially ones with big jumps
B. You gradually move faster in later levels
C. Don't lose heart even though every level design is RNG.
D. Practice as often as you can; there are no save checkpoints or continues as there is in JotPK.

1. time jumps with the falling boulders so that you land on top of them, but not if they are on too small tracks to jump off of later; they'll make you lose in a flash
2. the slopes are almost impossible to time jumps accurately with the massive speed boosts
3. The gem sea giant bubbles are easy to dodge in 1.6, but you better hope you don't need them to clear any gaps that will otherwise lead you into other gaps and past vital fruits
4. Slomp is easy to get away from if you don't have to rely on climbing too many sticky upward slopes and dodge too many barricades
5. You really get a noticeable speed boost in the galleon, and you often have to jump at the VERY end of tracks to clear the gaps which get massive at this point, and even worse in later levels.
6. Try to land on the leftmost parts of big purple mushrooms and adjust your timing with where you predict the other purple mushroom will rise, try not to rely on bouncy little purple mushrooms if you can help it. Platforms in general are rather small, so expect to make a LOT of jumps
7. The roller coaster is just a lot of jumps and timing that's muddled by the sharp peaks and valleys in the tracks.
8. Think fast on the speedway. Many tracks are free to jump on, but some are better than others. Be judicious and get as quick a read on the upcoming gaps as possible.

Wow. You are very good at this game.
I cannot even get past level one in the carts.
But I do not see it as a problem since real life skills are for more important.

But I do not see it as a problem since you dont have to be good at everything.
Fixed it. You dont have to be dismissive to others. I suck at Junimo Carts too, but the assumption, that you trade in a "real life skills" (as if a good reaction time isnt a real life skill) just to be good at certain video games is just plain wrong. You can be good at multiple things at the same time.

I apologize for my expression was misunderstood due to my bad understanding of people reactions and expressing accordingly in English. I wanted to say that I am very impressed about the win, but also express that I am not jealous, as how other perform should not influence my own life. Can you suggest me on how can I fix the damage I did?

EDIT to the mods seeing this: Further discussion with @:Kumbao on this topic has been moved to PM to not derail the thread anymore.

You didnt do any damage 😊 Everything is okay.

Wir können uns auch gern auf Deutsch unterhalten, wenn es das einfacher macht.
