Creator Response Item Gift confusion

Hey on the item cards that have a gift symbol, such as the "Junimo Hut" etc. do you equip them in your item slot, and wait for the season deck to have a gift symbol? Or do you get that effect immediatly when you draw the card for free?

Cards that show the Gift Symbol trigger when that symbol appears on the season card. Items and Profession Upgrades go into one of the slots on your character mat. However, the Junimo Hut is an epic item and does not take up a slot. These items trigger every gift event (but keep in mind that the Junimo Hut says, "May discard to..." so you only can use it once)
