Item cards

I’m not sure if this has already been addressed or not but I couldn’t find a thread that addressed this. Does an item card require an action to play?
we drew the item card ‘geodes and ore’where discarding the card will allow you to gain a geode or ore. But do I need to use an action to use the item, or is is in addition to my two actions?

Item cards do not require an action to be played / used.
